Amethyst A and B are separated by color and size.
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz which can range from deep, almost black in color to a very pale shade of purple. Amethyst gets its name from the Greek word amethystos, which translates to not intoxicated. Greek lore tells a tale of a young virgin traveling to worship at the Temple of Diana. During her travels she meets Dionysus, God of wine. He became intoxicated and angry at her for refusing of his advances. When the young woman cried out for help, the Goddess Diana appeared, turning the girl into a shimmering white stone. Dionysus, furious that he could not reach the girl, spilled his glass of wine over the white stone, coating it in a deep purple color and creating the stone we now call amethyst.
